LONDON (ICIS)--European third-quarter polycarbonate (PC) prices have decreased by €0.05/kg because of weak demand and falling feedstock bisphenol A (BPA) costs, sources said on Wednesday.

Moulding grade PC settled at €2.25–2.45/kg ($2.74–2.99/kg) FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe), while extrusion grade settled at €2.15–2.25/kg FD NWE.

Higher specification PC containing flame retardants and fibres are at €2.70–3.05/kg FD NWE.

There were rumours of some European sellers offering extrusion grade PC at €1.95–2.00/kg, but this was not confirmed by the sellers.

The price of freely negotiated BPA has decreased by €140/tonne on average since April, but benzene contract prices have increased by €63/tonne.
