HOUSTON (ICIS)--US acrylonitrile (ACN) exports for May were down by 9.1% year on year from the same month a year ago, according to data released by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Wednesday.
Exports decreased to 49,310 tonnes from 54,258 tonnes in May 2011, the ITC showed.
Year to date figures show exports of 266,905 tonnes, an increase of 13.2%.
Top destinations for US ACN exports in May were South Korea and, to a lesser extent, Turkey, Mexico, India, Peru and Taiwan.
The US does not import ACN.
US producers of ACN are Ascend Performance Materials, Cornerstone Chemical and INEOS Nitriles.
