HOUSTON (ICIS)--US paraffin wax (p-wax) imports in May decreased 21% from April, according to data released by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Wednesday.

US p-wax imports fell to 16,270 tonnes from 20,698 tonnes, mainly because of a decrease in product brought in from Germany and Taiwan.

China, at 9,030 tonnes, was the major source of US p-wax imports, followed by Canada at 2,386 tonnes and Greece at 2,033 tonnes.

Other sources included Malaysia, India, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Kuwait, Japan and Taiwan.

In exports, the US dispatched 3,721 tonnes of p-wax abroad in May, down from 5,422 tonnes in April.
