HOUSTON (ICIS)--US nylon exports for May were up by 1.0% year on year, according to data released by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Wednesday.
Exports increased to 55,191 tonnes from 54,663 tonnes in May 2011, the ITC said.
Year to date, exports of nylon have totalled 266,763 tonnes, a decrease of 5.1% from the same period in 2011.
Top destinations for US nylon exports in May were Mexico, China and Canada.
Imports amounted to 7,480 tonnes, up by 24% in May year on year.
The ITC groups nylon 6, nylon 11, nylon 12, nylon 6,6, nylon 6,9, nylon 6,10 and nylon 6,12 together in its report.
ICIS provides pricing reports for nylon 6 and nylon 6,6.
US producers of nylon include Ascend Performance Materials, BASF Corp, DuPont, EMS-Grivory, Honeywell, Invista, NYCOA and Shaw.
