HOUSTON (ICIS)--US vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) exports fell by 10% in May year on year on reduced shipments to Belgium, according to data released on Wednesday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
VAM exports totalled 45,037 tonnes in May, compared with 50,318 tonnes in the same month of 2011.
Shipments to Belgium, the largest export destination, declined by 54% to 9,896 tonnes, compared with 21,472 tonnes in May 2011.
Belgium, Brazil and Mexico were the top three export destinations, receiving a total of 25,848 tonnes.
Major US VAM sellers include Celanese, Dow Chemical, DuPont and LyondellBasell.
