HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butyl acetate (butac) exports in May remained virtually unchanged year on year, showing less than a 1% decline from shipments in the same month of 2011, according to data released on Wednesday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
May butac exports totalled 4,877 tonnes, 23 tonnes less than 4,900 tonnes in May of 2011.
In the first five months this year, butac exports increased 18%, largely on increased shipments to Brazil and smaller global destinations, according to the data.
Major US butac producers include Dow Chemical, Eastman Chemical and Oxea Group.
