HOUSTON (ICIS)--US acetic acid exports in May rose by 15% year on year on increased shipments to Mexico and India, according to data released on Wednesday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
US acetic acid exports totaled 98,977 tonnes in May, compared with 86,196 tonnes in the same month of 2011.
Combined May shipments to Belgium and Mexico - the two largest destinations - totalled 69,250 tonnes, up by 6% compared with 65,045 tonnes in the same month of 2011.
Major US acetic acid sellers include BP, Celanese and Eastman Chemical.
