SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Australia’s sole cracker operator Qenos is expected to raise the capacity of its cracker at Altona in Melbourne by 10% to 220,000 tonnes/year in the first quarter of next year, a source close to the company said on Thursday.

The cracker’s capacity will be expanded via a debottlenecking process, the source said.

Qenos also operates two high density polyethylene (HDPE) plants at Altona with a combined capacity of 180,000 tonnes/year.

At Botany in New South Wales, the company has a 150,000 tonne/year linear low density PE (LLDPE) plant, a 90,000 tonne/year low density PE (LDPE) unit and a 300,000 tonne/year cracker.
