LONDON (ICIS)--Melrob Group has been listed in “The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200”, the UK-based chemical distributor said on Friday.
Melrob was ranked 28th in the league table, which tracks Britain’s private firms with the fastest growing overseas sales, reflecting the company’s drive to expand its international operations, according to Managing Director Ian Melluish.
He highlighted the importance of the group’s “strategic decision and confidence to invest in overseas markets”, pointing to their recent acquisition of Chemiplus Corporation, a Japanese chemical distributor, which added to the growth.
The group plans to further boost its international presence this year, with an acquisition focus on the German market.
“Our international sales are circa £23m ($36m/€29m). This represents 90% growth in the period 2010 – 2012”, Melrob’s Sales Director, Derek Price, told ICIS.
“Our industry focus, distribution business model, specialty product portfolio and importantly, technically qualified sales personnel all contribute to this growth,” he added.
This is the second consecutive year that Melrob Group has been listed, ranking 22nd place last year. Chemical distributors Meade-King Robinson & Co, 2M Holdings and Solventis also placed in the “Track 200”.
Melrob’s sales forecast for the 2011-12 period is £46m ($72m/€58m). Price added: “We continue to re-invest in the business.”
