LONDON (ICIS)--ICIS Chemical Business (ICB) magazine on Monday unveils its annual ICIS Top 100 Chemical Distributors listing ranked by 2011 sales.
At the top of the ranking is Germany-based Brenntag, with $11.2bn in sales, followed by US-based Univar with $9.7bn in sales, and US-based Nexeo Solutions with $4bn.
“We are pleased to once again introduce the ICIS Top 100 Chemical Distributors - a global listing of companies critical to the chemical supply chain. We had a record number of entries this year and we also break out sales by geographic region,” said ICB global editor Joseph Chang.
The ICIS Top 100 Chemical Distributors is a global ranking, with regional leaders also broken out separately for North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America and Middle East & Africa.
The listing also goes beyond the Top 100 companies ranked by sales. This year we provide details on 191 chemical distributors around the world.
“We give special thanks to the major chemical distributor associations that made this worldwide listing possible - the US-based National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD), the European Association of Chemical Distributors (FECC), ASSOCIQUIM (Brazilian Association of Chemical and Petrochemical Distributors), and the Canadian Association of Chemical Distributors (CACD),” said Chang.
“We believe this listing will help buyers and sellers of chemicals navigate their way through the ever-expanding global marketplace,” said ICB deputy editor, Will Beacham.
“Distributors have emerged stronger than ever from the financial and economic crisis of 2008-2009,” Beacham added.
Currency conversions to US dollars for the ranking were based on year-end 2011 exchange rates.
