Jacobs wins work for INEOS sulphuric acid plant in UK

LONDON (ICIS)--Jacobs has won a contract to provide heat exchangers for INEOS' sulphuric acid plant in Runcorn, near Liverpool in northeast England, the US-based petrochemicals engineering firm said on Tuesday.

Jacobs said the contract includes the design and fabrication for two gas heat exchangers to be installed at the plant.

Jacobs will manufacturer the heat exchangers at its plant near Toronto, Canada, it said.

Financial and capacity details were not disclosed.

According to information on its website, INEOS is the largest producer of sulphur chemicals in the UK.

The company's sulphur chemicals business is based in Runcorn where it has an 11,000 tonne/year sulphuric acid plant that supplies customers in the semi-conductor, pharmaceuticals and other industries, according to ICIS.
