SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s SK Energy is currently operating its 690,000 tonne/year No 2 cracker in Ulsan at full capacity following repair works, a company source said on Wednesday.

The operating rate of the cracker was reduced to 90% after the cracker underwent furnace repairs for 10 days around 9 July, the source said.

SK Energy is still running its smaller 190,000 tonne/year No 1 cracker in Ulsan at 70% capacity, according to the source.

The company was looking to raise the No 1 cracker’s operating rate to 90% in August if olefin market conditions and derivative demand improves, the source said in an earlier report.
