HOUSTON (ICIS)--Afton Chemical plans to build a new chemical additives plant on Singapore’s Jurong Island petrochemical hub, the US-based fuel additives firm said on Wednesday.

Afton said it expects to invest more than $100m (€81m) in the plant.

The company did not disclose capacities, but it said that the plant’s initial capacity would “represent a modest increase in our overall global production.”

“The plant will be scalable to allow Afton to grow as demand warrants,” it added.

Afton plans to begin construction in the third quarter of 2013, with plant start-up expected by mid-2015.
