SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Frankfurt-based Styrolution has inaugurated a new 43,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (ASA) plant in Ulsan, South Korea, as part of its effort to expand business in Asia, the styrenics producer said on Thursday.

The new ASA line is “well suited for outdoor applications in various industries including automotive, electrical and electronics, building and construction as well as sports and leisure”, the company said in a statement.

The company said the new line will also “enable Styrolution to expand our product portfolio in more Asian countries and further strengthen our market position”.

Styrolution was created in October 2011 by the merger of certain styrenics assets and operations of Germany’s BASF and Switzerland-headquartered INEOS.
