SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corp (FCFC) is planning to shut its phenol-acetone plant in Mailiao in end-August for scheduled annual maintenance, a company source said on Friday.

The plant – which has two lines with a combined phenol capacity of 400,000 tonnes/year, and a combined acetone capacity of 250,000 tonnes/year – will be kept off line until the end of September, the source said.

FCFC has been running its phenol-acetone plant at 85% capacity since early June because of weak demand.
