China’s Wanzhou Petrochemical to start up AA, Butyl-A units in 2013

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Wanzhou Petrochemical (Jiangsu) Company will start commercial operation of its 80,000 tonne/year acrylic acid (AA) unit and 80,000 tonne/year butyl acrylate (butyl-A) unit at Nantong in Jiangsu province in September 2013, a company source said on Friday.

The company held a groundbreaking ceremony at the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area on 17 July, the source added.

The construction project will cost $147m (€119m), according to the source.

Wanzhou Petrochemical (Jiangsu) Company was established by Taiwan’s Yem Chio Group on 28 June 2012 with a total investment of $220m.

Yem Chio Group, a listed company in Taiwan, is a prominent manufacturer of biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film.
