MOSCOW (ICIS)--Russia's overall production of monomers and polymers was largely down in the first six months of the year, Russian statistics agency Rosstat said in an announcement on Friday.
Between January and June 2012, Russia's total production of ethylene was down by 9.5% year on year, at 1.142m tonnes, while propylene production was down by 14.5% year on year at 580,100 tonnes, Rosstat said. However, styrene output was up by 6% year on year at 266,500 tonnes, the agency said.
The country's total output of polyethylene (PE) was down by 13.6% year on year at 752,000 tonnes, while polypropylene (PP) production was down by 7.8% year on year at 335,900 tonnes. Polystyrene (PS) output, however, was up by 9.2% year on year at 178,000 tonnes, the agency said.
