China’s Elion Resources to build MTO unit by 2014

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Elion Resources Group will complete construction of a 600,000 tonne/year methanol-to-olefin (MTO) project at Erdos city in Inner Mongolia in 2014, a company source said on Tuesday.

Construction of the plant, which is located at Dugui Tala Industrial Park of Hangjin district in Erdos city, started in the middle of last year.

The initial investment on the project is yuan (CNY) 20.6bn ($3.23bn) but the final investment amount will be much more than that, the source added.

Elion Resources Group in involved in a wide range of businesses including desertification prevention, coal exploitation, coal processing, coal marketing and clean energy.
