Japan’s Keiyo Ethylene shuts Chiba cracker on mechanical issues

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Keiyo Ethylene is in the process of shutting down its 740,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker at Ichihara in Chiba prefecture on Tuesday following unspecified problems, a company source said.

“We are now shutting down the cracker and we are investigating the cause,” the source said.

The duration of the shutdown cannot be ascertained yet, the source added.
