SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China's Jiangsu Sopo Chemical will shut its three acetic acid plants at Zhenjiang in Jiangsu, with a combined capacity of 1.2m tonnes/year, for unscheduled maintenance late on 24 July, a company official said on Tuesday.

“There is something wrong with the gas supply system and the maintenance will last for about two or three days,” the source added.

The company’s 500,000 tonne/year ethyl acetate plant at the same site will be shut at the same time, said the source.

Some buyers said the shutdown will not have an impact on the market as its duration is short.

Major acetic acid producers in China include Celanese, BP YPC Acetyls Co (Byaco), Jiangsu Sopo, Shanghai Wujing Chemical, and Yankuang Cathy.
