SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japans’s JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corp is planning to shut its 150,000 tonnes/year benzene unit in Kawasaki for a scheduled turnaround next month, said a company source late on Tuesday.

The reformer will be shut for 45-50 days from 10 August, the source said.

JX Nippon Oil is currently operating its Oita-based 200,000 tonne/year benzene unit at 90%. The unit was restarted on 10 July after a scheduled turnaround, the source said.

The company is one of the largest benzene producers in Asia.
