SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Fire erupted at a Malaysian chemical tanker, which is possibly carrying methanol, early Thursday morning at Port Labuan in Sabah, Malaysia, a source from ship owner MISC told ICIS.

The incident at the 37,961 deadweight-tonne chemical tanker, Bunga Alpinia, occurred at 2:30 Malaysia time, the source said.

"We are still unclear about what happened and investigations are still being carried out," the source from the Malaysian shipping firm said in Malay.
