China’s Sichuan Tianhua Fubang plans to build PTMEG plant

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sichuan Tianhua Fubang Chemical is planning to build a 46,000 tonne/year polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG) plant at Luzhou in Sichuan province in southwest China, a company statement to Shenzhen Stock Exchange said on Thursday.

The construction of the plant, with an investment of yuan (CNY) 2.4bn ($376m), will be completed in the next two years, according to the statement. However, the company did not disclose when the construction is expected to start.

The company has obtained a license from US-based Invista to use its technology for manufacturing PTMEG.

PTMEG is a downstream product of butanediol (BDO).

Sichuan Tianhua Fubang Chemical is a subsidiary of Sichuan Lutianhua, which also located at Luzhou of Sichuan province. Sichuan Tianhua Fubang Chemical currently produces butanediol (BDO) and other downstream products.
