SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China's Sinopec Wuhan restarted its aromatics unit located at Hubei province in central China on 25 July, after shutting it for a scheduled maintenance on 5 June, a company source said on Thursday.

The aromatics unit can produce 42,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 44,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 56,000 tonnes/year of xylene, according to the source.

The company supplies toluene to downstream end-users such as Wuhan Youji Industries, while its xylene is mainly supplied to Yangzi Petrochemical and Luoyang Petrochemical to produce paraxylene, the source added.

The shutdown had a limited impact on the spot market in central China because of weak downstream demand, a trader said.
