Argentina June chemical production up by 8.2% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Argentina’s June chemical production was up by 8.2% year on year, compared with the same month of 2011, an industry group said on Friday.

Production of basic chemical products was up by 18.8% in June compared with the same month of the previous year, said Argentina’s Statistics Institute (INDEC). The institute does not provide tonnage figures for production.

Production of industrial gases was up in June by 4.2%, the group said.

Production of plastic raw materials and synthetic rubber was up by 16.0% in June compared with the same month of 2011.

Agrochemicals production declined by 6.8%, while production of pharmaceutical products was up by 12.0% year on year.

Production of detergents, soaps and personal products rose in June by 1.3%.

Meanwhile, plastic products and rubber tyres production combined increased by 7.0% in June year on year.

Rubber tyre production was up by 8.5%, while June production of plastic products increased by 6.6% year on year, INDEC said.
