SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Datang International Power Generation is running its 460,000 tonne/year methanol-to-propylene (MTP) unit and its 460,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) unit at Duolun in Inner Mongolia at 50% capacity after restarting them on 13 July, a company source said on Monday.

The current rate is the usual operating capacity of the MTP and PP units, the source said.

Both units were shut for maintenance on 17 May, the source said.

In addition, Datang International is running its upstream 1.68m tonne/year methanol plant at the same site at 30-40% capacity, the source said.

“We’re increasing the operating rate of the methanol plant. The usual operating capacity of the plant is 50%,” the source added.

The plant was operating at a lower-than-usual rate because of some technical difficulties, according to some market players.
