SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shandong Dongming Petrochemical Group is planning to start up a 40,000 tonne/year methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) unit at Heze in Shandong province in 2013, a company source said on Tuesday.

The company will supply its own etherified C4 feedstock for the MEK unit and sell the MEK output in the Chinese domestic market, according to the source.

Operating rates of the unit will depend on market conditions, the source added.
