SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry plans to restart its 60,000 tonne/year polyacetal (POM) plant at Yinchuan, Ningxia province in early August, a source close to the company said on Tuesday.

The plant has been shut since 5 July for a turnaround which was estimated to last for a month, said the source.

The source was unable to provide an exact restart date.

The shutdown is expected to have little impact on the market as demand is weak, according to buyers.

The company is a joint venture between Shenhua Group and Ningxia Coal Group.

POM, also known as acetal, polyoxymethylene and polyformaldehyde, is an engineering thermoplastic used in precision parts.
