MELBOURNE (ICIS)--?xml:namespace>China’s Shanghai Huayi Group started trial runs at its new 200,000 tonne/year ethyl acetate (etac) plant at Wuwei in Anhui province last week, a company official said on Tuesday.
“Trial runs started during [the week starting 23 July], and the unit should achieve on-spec etac output in the near term,” the official said.
The etac plant start-up was delayed from the second quarter, partly because of the weak demand for the solvent. The date for full etac commercial operations will depend on the market conditions for etac, the official added.
Trial runs at its 500,000 tonne/year upstream acetic acid plant at the same Wuwei site began on 10 July.
In addition to the Wuwei facilities, Shanghai Huayi Group operates a 200,000 tonne/year etac plant at Wujing in Shanghai under the company Shanghai Wujing Chemical. The company also operates two acetic acid lines that can produce 700,000 tonnes/year of acetic acid at the Wujing site. By: Trisha Huang
