SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s LG Chem is planning to start trial runs at its new 150,000 tonne/year bisphenol A (BPA) plant in Daesan on 1 October, a source close to the company said on Tuesday.

The construction of the plant is expected to be completed in September and LG Chem is aiming to start commercial production on 1 November, the source said.

The new capacity is expected to add further downward pressure on spot BPA prices because of weak demand from the downstream epoxy resins and polycarbonate segments amid the slow Chinese economy, market sources said.
