LONDON (ICIS)--Odfjell has signed a ship building contract with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Ltd for four chemical tankers for 2014 delivery, it said on Tuesday.

The contract, worth about $160m (€131m), is for four 46,000 deadweight tonne (dwt) vessels with 22 coated cargo tanks, the Norwegian shipping and storage group said.

“The new ships will have an eco-friendly design with less fuel consumption,” it added, and will replace a number of old vessels it has recycled over the past few years.

Odfjell said it has also signed an option agreement with the dockyard in Ulsan, South Korea for four additional sister vessels at the same prices.
