HOUSTON (ICIS)--China's Inner Mongolia ChinaCoal Mengda New Energy & Chemical Industry Co has selected Dow Chemical Company's UNIPOL polypropylene (PP) process technology for its new 300,000 tonnes/year PP unit, Dow Chemical announced on Tuesday.
The unit is to be located in Ordos City, Inner Mongolia, China, and is expected to start up in 2014. The plant will produce homopolymers, random copolymers and impact copolymers, according to Dow.
"With low total investment and operating costs, the UNIPOL PP Process is gaining momentum with polypropylene producers globally," said Tracy Cleckler, president of Union Carbide Chemicals and Plastics Technology, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dow.
The plant is part of a 500,000 tonne/year engineering plastics project.
