SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) is currently running its 250,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE) plant at Map Ta Phut at 80% of capacity, a company source said on Wednesday.

The unit was restarted on 31 July after completing a month-long turnaround, the source said.

Production at the plant would be ramped up gradually to 100%, the source said.

PTTGC operates two other HDPE plants at Map Ta Phut – a 300,000 tonne/year unit and a 250,000 tonne/year unit. It also runs a 400,000 tonne/year linear low density PE (LLDPE) plant and a 300,000 tonne/year low density PE (LDPE) unit at the site.

These PE plants are currently operating at full capacity, the PTTGC source said.
