SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Petrochemical Corp (FPCC) is in the process of restarting operations at its 700,000 tonne/year No 1 cracker in Mailiao as scheduled by 5 August, a company official said on Thursday.

“We are in the process of restarting operations and naphtha will be fed in over the next two days,” he said, adding that the operating rate of the cracker will be raised to 100% in August. The cracker was taken off line a day earlier than scheduled on 19 June for a turnaround.

The company’s 1.03m tonne/year No 2 and 1.2m tonne/year No 3 naphtha crackers at the same site are running at 100% capacity, he added.

The No 2 naphtha cracker is scheduled to be shut in mid-August for safety inspections lasting 30 days.
