TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s Adeka Corp reported on Thursday a 14% year-on-year increase in its fiscal first-quarter net profit to yen (Y) 1.53bn ($20m), with net sales rising 10%.
Sales for the three months to 30 June 2012 totalled Y45.1bn, with operating profit up 12% year on year to Y2.49bn, Adeka said in a statement.
At its chemicals segment, net sales increased 4% to Y31.0bn, but operating profit fell 20% to Y2.04bn due to high feedstock costs, the producer said.
