US Q2 VAM production rises 9% year on year - AFPM

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) production rose to 843m lb (382,000 tonnes) in the second quarter of 2012, up by 9% from the same period in 2011, according to data received on Thursday by the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM).

The year-on-year increase reflected solid improvement in the US paints and coatings market in the first six months of this year compared with the same period in 2011.

Second-quarter production also rose by 4% from the first quarter of 2012, according to the data.

The AFPM data was based on input from four companies – Celanese, Dow Chemical, DuPont and LyondellBasell.
