US Q2 propylene output falls 4.6% year on year – AFPM

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US second-quarter propylene production totalled 7.54bn lb (3.42m tonnes), a 4.6% drop from 7.90bn lb one year earlier, data from the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) showed on Thursday.

However, propylene output in the second quarter rose by 4.7% from 7.20bn lb in the first quarter of 2012, the group said.

The figures include production of refinery-sourced and co-product propylene, according to the AFPM.

US propylene inventories in the second quarter stood at 1.96bn lb, rising by 47.4% from 1.33bn lb one year earlier and by 21% from 1.62bn lb in the first quarter of the year.

AFPM's quarterly data is based on voluntary reports.
