US Q2 ethylene production falls 4.6% year on year – AFPM

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US ethylene production in the second quarter totalled 12.61bn lb (5.7m tonnes), down by 4.6% from 13.22bn lb one year earlier, data from the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) showed on Thursday.

Ethylene output in April-June fell by a smaller 3% compared with 13bn lb in the first quarter of 2012, the AFPM said.

US ethylene inventories in the second quarter stood at 638m lb, falling by 32% year on year, while dropping by 43% from 1.12bn lb in the first quarter of the year.

AFPM's quarterly data is based on voluntary reports.
