US Q2 BD production drops 17% year on year – AFPM

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US second-quarter butadiene (BD) production totalled 726m lb (329,000 tonnes), a 17% drop from 878m lb one year earlier, data from the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) showed on Thursday.

BD production in the second quarter was down by a much smaller 5.3% compared with 767m lb in the first quarter of 2012, the AFPM said.

US BD inventories in the second quarter stood at 113m lb, falling by 12% from 129m lb a year earlier, but rising by 24% compared with 91m lb in the first quarter of the year.

AFPM's quarterly data is based on voluntary reports.
