SHANGHAI (ICIS)--China’s Liaoning Huajin Tongda Chemical shut down its 100,000 tonne/year butadiene (BD) unit on Friday for regular maintenance, a source close to the company said on Friday.

The shutdown will last about 30-40 days, with production losses estimated at about 7,000-9,000 tonnes of BD, the source added.

The Chinese domestic market has ample BD supply that the shutdown of Liaoning Huajin Tongda’s facility is a welcome development, traders said.

The company is a key BD producer in China.
