The official could not ascertain the actual level of operating rate and for how long it will continue but added that the I-4 No 2 ethane cracker was operating at 90-95% capacity in July.
The cracker was taken off line on 29 June for repairs. It was restarted earlier than expected on 6 July because the technical problems had been resolved, the source said.
The cracker was initially expected to be shut for around two weeks.
Separately, PTTGC’s 515,000 tonne/year mixed-feed I-4 No 1 cracker at the same site is now running normally at 85% capacity, the source added.
