SINGAPORE (ICIS)---Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) will shut its 100,000 tonne/year epichlorohydrin (ECH) unit at Mailiao in Taiwan for a scheduled maintenance early next week, a company source said on Monday.

The maintenance is expected to last for about a month, the source said without specifying the exact timeline for the turnaround.

FPC has been running their plant at full capacity a few weeks prior to the scheduled maintenance to ensure the stable supply of ECH during the shutdown period.

The turnaround is not expected to impact the market significantly as ECH supply during the maintenance period has been well accounted for and downstream demand for ECH from the epoxy resins sector continues to be languid, according to market participants.
