TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s ethylene production rose 14% to 523,000 tonnes in July from the previous month, a preliminary report by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) showed late on Monday.

This was, however, a 7.6% decline from July 2011, the report showed.

One naphtha cracker was shut for scheduled maintenance in July 2012, while two crackers were shut down the previous month, based on the data.

No crackers were shut down for maintenance in July 2011, according to the ministry.
