Wison Offshore & Marine sends buoyant tower drilling unit to Peru

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--The world’s first buoyant tower drilling and production platform has set sail for Peru where it will be installed at Houston-based BPZ Energy’s Corvina field located offshore Peru, Shanghai-based Wison Offshore & Marine said in a statement on Tuesday.

Wison Offshore & Marine was responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction of the 2,500 tonne buoyant tower hull and 1,500 tonne topsides facility, according to the statement.

The buoyant tower will support the three-level topsides facility designed by Audubon Engineering and GMC and is equipped to produce 12,200 bbl/day of oil and 12.8m standard cubic feet/day of gas, according to the statement.

Both the hull and topsides facility were loaded onboard a single heavy lift transport vessel, the Osprey, according to the statement.

Wison Offshore & Marine is the upstream oil and gas division of the Wison Group. The company’s services cover facility design and engineering, to project management, construction, commissioning and operations.

BPZ Energy, which trades as BPZ Resources on the New York Stock Exchange and the Bolsa de Valores in Lima, is an independent oil and gas exploration and production company which has license contracts for oil and gas exploration and production covering about 2.2m gross acres in four properties in northwest Peru.
