SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Chinese oil major PetroChina plans to shut its 200,000 tonne/year Group II base oils plant at Daqing in Heilongjiang province on 25 August for maintenance, a company source said on Tuesday.

The plant will be shut for 45 days with limited stocks for the northeast China market during the period, the source added.

The shutdown is unlikely to boost Group II base oils prices in northeast China in August as overall supply will be sufficient, market sources said.

PetroChina’s Daqing Refining & Chemical is the only producer of Group II base oils in northeast China.
