SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Ningbo Mitsubishi Chemical has shut its 600,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in Ningbo in Zhejiang on Wednesday because of a power failure caused by Typhoon Haikui, a company source said on Wednesday.

The shutdown will last for one to two days and will not cause serious production loss, the source said.

The typhoon hit Zhejiang on Wednesday morning, according to China Meteorological Administration.

Until now, no other PTA plants have been shut down because of the typhoon, according to ICIS.
