Japan’s Sumitomo Chemical to shut capro unit in end-Oct

BRISBANE (ICIS)--Japan’s Sumitomo Chemical is planning to shut down its caprolactam (capro) unit in Ehime Prefecture for maintenance works in end-October, a source close to the company said on Wednesday.

The unit consisting of two lines will be shut for around 40 days, added the source.

Sumitomo Chemical has one capro line with a nameplate capacity of 100,000 tonne/year and a second capro line with a nameplate capacity of 80,000 tonne/year.
