Samsung Total shuns spot naphtha buying for September

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea's Samsung Total is not seeking spot naphtha for September because its 1m tonne/year Daesan-based cracker is using alternative feedstock and relying on term naphtha supply, said a source close to the company on Wednesday.

The cracker is using condensate, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and term naphtha deliveries for feedstock instead, he added.

The August operating rates are at 100%, unchanged from July, the source said.

The company last bought three cargoes totalling 75,000 tonnes of spot naphtha supply for second-half August deliveries, he said. No further details on the sale were immediately available.
