SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Aditya Birla Chemicals (Thailand) plans to restart its caustic soda plant at Map Ta Phut in Rayong province on 15 August, a source close to the company said on Friday.
The facility, which has a nameplate capacity of 80,000 dry metric tonnes/year, has been shut since 6 May following a chlorine leakage. Prior to the shutdown the plant was running at around 60% of capacity.
The producer should be able to resume caustic soda sales to the domestic market in Thailand by the end of August, according to the source.
Aditya Birla Chemicals (Thailand) is part of Aditya Birla Group.
