LONDON (ICIS)--The Leverkusen chemical park near Cologne, Germany, incurred a second fire on Wednesday afternoon, following another small fire earlier in the day, officials said.

CURRENTA, which operates the Leverkusen chemical park, said that at around 14:54 hours Germany local time (12:54 hours GMT) a fire broke out during demolition work on an idled plant.

Firefighters managed to quickly put out the blaze. Two workers were medically examined as a precautionary measure, CURRENTA said.

On Wednesday morning a fire broke out at a LANXESS plant after phosphor leaked from a pipe and ignited.

The Leverkusen site houses plants by Bayer, LANXESS and a number of other chemical producers.
